The kidneys filter the liquid waste in our body and turn it into urine. The condition in which certain types of salts and minerals present in this urine stick to each other and harden in the form of stones is scientifically called renal calculi or kidney stones. Here are the 5 main scientific reasons behind the formation of kidney stones:

Not drinking enough water (Dehydration): The most important scientific reason for the formation of kidney stones is the lack of hydration in the body. When you do not drink enough water every day, the amount of urine decreases and it becomes very concentrated in a dark yellow color (Concentrated urine). In this condition, salts such as calcium, oxalate, and uric acid in the urine do not dissolve and accumulate, sticking together and quickly forming stones.

Poor diet and excess salt (Dietary Factors): Some of the ingredients in the foods we eat can cause stone formation. Consuming too much salt (sodium) in the diet increases the amount of calcium excreted by the kidneys. This calcium combines with oxalate in the urine to form calcium oxalate stones. In addition, chocolate, nuts, spinach, black tea, and tomatoes contain large amounts of oxalate. Regular consumption of red meat (beef, mutton) can also cause uric acid stones.

Genetics & Family History: If your parents or siblings have had kidney stones before, there is a high chance that the next generation will also inherit them. Some people have a genetic predisposition to excrete more salts in their urine or to have less substances like citrate that prevent the formation of stones.

Obesity & Metabolic Syndrome: Sudden weight gain can cause changes in the acidity of the urine (pH acidity). This creates a favorable environment for the formation of stones. In addition, people with diabetes, high blood pressure, gout, and hyperparathyroidism are more likely to develop urinary stones due to increased calcium levels.

Chronic UTI & Medications: Frequent bacterial infections in the urinary tract can change the chemical composition of urine and cause struvite stones. Additionally, taking excessive amounts of calcium pills, vitamin C supplements, and certain types of diuretics without a doctor’s prescription can also lead to kidney stones in the long term.

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false

1

post-31185","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-job
["GET
