Do not ignore numbness and tingling in the hands and feet; these may be your body’s warning signs!

If you experience excessive fatigue, loss of balance while walking, and weakness in your arms along with numbness in your hands, you should see a neurologist for expert advice. The real cause can be found through a simple blood test or a nerve test (NCV Test). If treated early, major nerve damage can be avoided.

Numbness and tingling in the hands and feet are often signs of problems in the nervous system. The main causes of this are as follows:

Vitamin B12 deficiency: Vitamin B12 is essential for nerve health. Its deficiency causes chronic numbness and tingling in the hands and feet. This is more common in vegetarians and those with digestive problems.

Diabetic neuropathy: If diabetes is not controlled, it can damage blood vessels and nerves. As a result, you may experience tingling and numbness in the feet.

Nerve compression: Numbness can spread to the hands and feet due to a slipped disc in the spine or compression of the nerves in the wrist (Carpal Tunnel Syndrome).

Reduced blood flow: Sitting still or sleeping with your arms folded can cause blood flow to be restricted and cause numbness. The numbness will go away when you change your position, but a chronic condition is serious.
