Anti-fungal creams or lotions can be used to treat ringworm as prescribed by a doctor. If you scratch the affected area, it can spread to other parts of the body. Washing and drying clothes in hot water and not sharing personal items can help prevent infection. In Ayurveda, applying a paste of turmeric and neem leaves is an effective treatment for ringworm.
Ringworm is mainly spread through direct contact. The main reasons for this are as follows:
Contact from another person: It spreads quickly through direct contact with a person infected with ringworm or by sharing towels, soaps, clothes, and combs used by them.
Poor environmental hygiene: The fungus grows quickly in humid and hot weather. Wearing sweaty clothes for a long time can cause ringworm.
From animals: This infection can be transmitted to humans by touching or interacting with pets such as dogs and cats infected with ringworm.
Public places: Walking barefoot in gyms, swimming pools, and public bathrooms can cause athlete’s foot.
