6 major mistakes that cause kidney damage!

Some of our bad habits and neglected health problems lead to kidney damage. They are as follows:

1. Uncontrolled Diabetes
Diabetes is the biggest cause of kidney disease. High blood sugar slowly destroys the filtering system in the kidneys. If this is not controlled in time, the kidneys may completely stop working.

2. High Blood Pressure (High BP)
If blood pressure is not controlled, it narrows and hardens the blood vessels in the kidneys. This reduces blood flow to the kidneys and they start to deteriorate.

3. Use of Painkillers
Regularly taking painkillers (NSAIDs – for example, Ibuprofen) without a doctor’s prescription can cause serious damage to the kidneys. This reduces blood flow to the kidneys and damages cells.

4. Excessive salt intake
Excessive salt in the diet increases blood pressure and puts more strain on the kidneys. This can lead to kidney stones and reduced functioning.

5. Not drinking enough water
Water is essential for the kidneys to flush out toxins from the body. Not drinking enough water for a long time can cause kidney stones and infections (UTI) and damage them.

6. Artificial sweeteners and processed foods
Chemicals in soft drinks, artificially sweetened drinks, and canned foods are a challenge to kidney health.

3 ways to protect your kidneys:
Testing: People with diabetes and BP should get their kidney function tested (KFT) on time.

Food: Include plenty of fruits and vegetables, reduce salt.

Medicines: Avoid self-medication and take medicines only as prescribed by your doctor
