Rectal Cancer; Don’t Ignore These 6 Symptoms!

Colorectal cancer is cancer that occurs in the rectum or large intestine, the last part of the digestive system. If you notice the following symptoms, you should see a doctor immediately:

1. Changes in bowel habits
Pay attention to sudden changes. Symptoms may include chronic constipation or diarrhea. A change in the shape of the stool (thin, stringy stool) or a feeling that the stool has not passed completely may be due to obstructions in the intestine.

2. Blood in the stool
This is the most important symptom of rectal cancer. Dark red or black blood in the stool may be due to bleeding from tumors inside the anus. It is dangerous to self-treat this by mistaking it for piles.

3. Abdominal pain and discomfort
Frequent gas in the stomach, bloating, chronic pain, or unexplained pulling in the stomach can be symptoms of colon cancer.

4. Unexplained weight loss
If you are losing weight suddenly without dieting or exercising, it should be taken seriously. This is due to the cancer cells using up too much energy in the body and loss of appetite.

5. Extreme fatigue and weakness
Continuous blood loss from tumors in the intestines can cause anemia in the body. This can cause extreme fatigue and shortness of breath even when doing simple tasks.

6. Anemia
If a blood test shows a sudden decrease in hemoglobin levels, it should be checked to see if it is due to bleeding in the intestines. Anemia is often the first symptom seen in people with rectal cancer.

Precautions:
Tests: It is advisable for people over the age of 45 to undergo colonoscopy at regular intervals.

Food: Eat plenty of vegetables and fruits that contain fiber. Reduce the consumption of red meat (beef, mutton) and processed meat (sausage, nuggets).

Exercise: Regular physical activity can reduce the risk of cancer.
