Ulcers are not caused by eating too much spicy food alone. There are many other important reasons behind this:
1. H. pylori bacteria (H. pylori Infection)
This is the most important culprit that causes ulcers. These bacteria destroy the protective layer of the stomach and cause inflammation. It is transmitted through contaminated food and water.
2. Excessive use of painkillers
Regularly taking painkillers (Painkillers – NSAIDs) without a doctor’s prescription can cause ulcers. These weaken the protective elements of the stomach wall.
3. Smoking and alcohol
Smoking increases acid production in the stomach and slows down the healing of wounds. Alcohol directly damages the lining of the stomach.
4. Irregular eating habits
Not eating at the right time can cause stomach acid to build up and damage the walls. Excessive acidity and sourness can also worsen ulcers.
5. Stress
Although severe stress does not directly cause ulcers, it can increase the body’s acid production and prevent existing ulcers from healing.
6. Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome
This is a rare condition. It is a condition in which the body produces too much acid, which can cause multiple ulcers in the stomach and intestines.
Main symptoms:
A burning sensation and pain in the upper abdomen.
The pain increases or decreases with eating.
Heartburn and belching.
Loss of appetite and sudden weight loss
