1. Insulin Resistance
This is the main cause of type-2 diabetes. Although our body produces insulin, the cells are unable to use it properly. This is called insulin resistance. As a result, glucose builds up in the blood.
2. Genetics
If a father or mother has diabetes in the family, it is more likely to occur in children. Some genetic factors affect the production and use of insulin in the body.
3. Obesity and lack of exercise
Increased body weight, especially fat accumulation around the abdomen, can slow down the action of insulin. When physical activity decreases, the body does not use glucose properly, which leads to diabetes.
4. Pancreatic gland malfunction
Insulin is produced in the body by the beta cells of the pancreas. In type-1 diabetes, the body’s immune system destroys these cells. This causes the production of insulin to stop completely.
5. Improper diet
Excessive consumption of sweets, flour dishes, junk food, and colas overwork the pancreas and impairs insulin production.
6. Mental stress and insomnia
Continuous stress increases hormones like cortisol in the body. This can cause blood sugar levels to rise rapidly. Similarly, not getting enough sleep at night increases the risk of diabetes.
The main symptoms of diabetes:
Excessive thirst and frequent urination.
Hunger that does not change no matter how much you eat and sudden weight loss.
Wounds take a long time to heal.
