Once diabetes occurs, it is difficult to completely change it, but with a proper diet, it is possible to maintain the sugar level like that of a normal person. The foods that help prevent diabetes are:
1. Fenugreek
Fenugreek is in the first place in diabetes control. The fiber in it slows down the absorption of carbohydrates.
Method to get used to: Soaking a spoonful of fenugreek in water at night, drinking that water in the morning and chewing the fenugreek is great for reducing sugar.
2. Chirattakanji or bran rice
Use unbleached rice instead of white rice (green/brown). Its fiber prevents sugar from mixing quickly into the blood. Using small grains (millets) like ragi and jowar instead of rice is very beneficial.
3. Bitter vegetables (Pavakka & Kowakka)
The components ‘Charantin’ and ‘Polypeptide-P’ in papaya act like insulin and reduce blood sugar levels. Include papaya or kowakka in your diet at least three times a week.
4. Cinnamon
Cinnamon can help reduce insulin resistance. Drinking a pinch of cinnamon powder in tea or water every day will speed up the conversion of sugar into energy by the cells.
5. Gooseberry and Turmeric
Drinking a mixture of gooseberry juice and turmeric powder on an empty stomach is an Ayurvedic technique that helps stimulate the pancreas and increase insulin production.
3 things to keep in mind to avoid diabetes:
Avoid sweets and flour: Sugary drinks, bakery sweets, and flour dishes are the enemies of diabetics.
Eating at the right time: Eating at the right time will help you avoid spikes in your blood sugar levels.
Exercise: Walking briskly for 30-45 minutes every day will improve the body’s insulin function.
