Seeing blood while urinating may not be equally serious in everyone. However, it can be a sign of some health problems. The main causes are:
Sign of kidney disease (Proteinuria): The most important reason for seeing blood in the urine is the excretion of protein (Albumin) through the urine. This loss of protein occurs when the kidneys’ filters are damaged. This can be the primary symptom of kidney disease.
Dehydration: When you don’t drink enough water, your urine becomes more concentrated. When you pass such concentrated urine, you are likely to see blood.
Uncontrolled diabetes: When blood sugar levels are too high, it affects the kidneys and causes protein to be excreted in the urine. In diabetics, seeing blood in the urine can be a sign that the kidneys are overloaded.
Urinary tract infection (UTI): When bacterial infections occur, pus or other changes can occur in the urine. This causes blood and a burning sensation when urinating.
Urinary incontinence: Urinating too quickly can cause a natural reaction called toilet impaction, which usually disappears quickly.
