Diabetes is a condition in which the body is unable to produce enough insulin or the cells are unable to properly use the insulin that is produced. The main causes of this are:
Insulin Resistance: This is the main cause of type 2 diabetes. The cells in the body do not respond properly to insulin, and as a result, blood sugar does not enter the cells and remains in the blood.
Obesity and lack of exercise: Excess weight, especially fat around the abdomen, causes insulin resistance. Lack of regular physical activity slows down the body’s metabolism and increases sugar levels.
Heredity: If parents or siblings in the family have diabetes, you are more likely to develop it. Genetic factors play a major role in type 1 and type 2 diabetes.
Unhealthy diet: Excessive consumption of sugary foods, flour dishes, artificial drinks, and processed foods overload the pancreas and lead to diabetes.
Problems in the pancreas: Insulin is produced by the beta cells in the pancreas. Damage to the pancreas due to infections or autoimmune disorders can cause insulin production to stop.
