Migraines are a severe pain that is felt on only one side of the head, unlike regular headaches. They are also sensitive to light and sound. The main causes are:
Hormonal changes: Changes in the estrogen hormone in women are a major cause of migraines. This is why migraines increase during menstruation or pregnancy.
Dietary changes: Skipping meals, excessive consumption of sweets, stale cheese, and processed meats increase the risk of migraines. Artificial sweeteners (aspartame) and Ajinomoto are also common causes.
Mental stress and insomnia: Excessive workload, anxiety, and changes in sleep patterns (sleeping too much or too little) can cause migraines to occur suddenly.
Environmental factors: Bright sunlight, flickering lights, strong odors (perfume, paint), and excessive noise are factors that trigger pain in migraine sufferers.
Caffeine and alcohol use: Excessive coffee and alcohol consumption can aggravate migraines. Some people experience headaches even if they stop drinking coffee suddenly.
