Do you feel numbness and tingling in your hands and feet? Don’t ignore these 5 reasons

Pin-like numbness and tingling in various parts of the body, especially in the hands and feet, are often caused by problems related to the nervous system. The main causes of this are:

Nerve Compression: When you sit in the same position for a long time or sleep with your hands folded, you feel pressure on the nerves and experience temporary numbness. However, in conditions like ‘Carpal Tunnel Syndrome’, constant pressure on the nerves in the wrist can cause chronic numbness.

Vitamin Deficiency: Vitamin B12, B6, B1, and Vitamin E are essential for nerve health. Their deficiency weakens the nerves and causes chronic numbness and tingling in the hands and feet.

Diabetes (Diabetic Neuropathy): Uncontrolled blood sugar levels can damage the nerves for a long time. This is called ‘diabetic neuropathy’. The main symptom is numbness and tingling that starts in the feet.

Circulatory problems: Reduced blood flow to the extremities can cause numbness. This can happen in cold weather or in conditions that narrow the blood vessels (Peripheral Artery Disease).

Neck and back wear and tear: Cervical spondylosis, or a herniated disc in the neck, can press on the nerves there, causing numbness that spreads to the arms or legs.
