Excessive sweating and humidity: Sweat accumulates in poorly ventilated areas, creating a favorable environment for the fungus to grow. Moisture due to sweating in the armpits and thighs is the main cause of ringworm.
Contact with infected people: The fungus spreads to others by sharing clothes, towels, combs, and soap used by a person with ringworm. This is why it spreads quickly among children and people living in hostels.
Unhygienic conditions: Wearing wet clothes for a long time and using clothes that are not dried properly can cause fungal infections on the skin. This is likely to increase during the rainy season and humid weather.
Transmission from pets: If pets such as cats and dogs have a fungal infection, the disease can be transmitted to humans by touching them. Special care should be taken if there are areas of hair loss on the animal’s skin.
Immunodeficiency: People with weakened immune systems and diabetics are more likely to develop fungal infections quickly and take longer to heal.
