Stomach bloating and heartburn are a problem that bothers most people today. Along with the food we eat, our habits also play a big role in the formation of gas. The main reasons are:
Eating food quickly: When we eat in a hurry, we unconsciously swallow a large amount of air along with the food (Aerophagia). This causes gas to accumulate in the stomach. Chewing food well and eating slowly will help avoid this.
Foods that are difficult to digest: Nuts, tubers (potatoes, yams), cabbage, cauliflower, etc. naturally produce more gas when digested. In addition, sweets made with flour and oily foods slow down the digestion process.
Lactose Intolerance: Some people’s bodies have a low ability to digest lactose, the sugar in milk. It is common for such people to experience bloating and gas when they consume milk or dairy products.
Soft drinks and chewing gum: When you drink carbonated drinks (Soda/Soft drinks), the carbon dioxide gas in them reaches the stomach directly. Similarly, when you chew gum, you may swallow excess air.
Constipation and bacteria in the intestines: When you are constipated, food waste stays in the intestines for a longer time and bacteria ferment it. This leads to the formation of odorous gas.
