Fatty liver is a condition in which excessive fat accumulates in the liver cells. Although it may not show symptoms initially, if not noticed in time, it can lead to serious conditions such as liver cirrhosis. The main causes are:
Improper diet: Excessive consumption of fried and fried foods, junk food, and bakery sweets causes fat to accumulate in the liver. Foods containing trans fats in particular are the culprit.
Alcohol (Alcoholic Fatty Liver): Excessive alcohol consumption damages liver cells and disrupts fat metabolism. This causes swelling in the liver.
Diabetes and insulin resistance: High blood sugar levels and insulin not working properly cause the body to accumulate fat in the liver. This leads to non-alcoholic fatty liver (NAFLD).
Obesity and lack of exercise: Weight gain, especially around the belly, affects liver health. Lack of physical activity reduces the body’s ability to burn fat.
High cholesterol: High levels of triglycerides in the blood increase the risk of fatty liver. This causes blockages not only in the blood vessels but also in the liver.
