Does blood sugar level increase? 5 main things that cause diabetes

Glucose is essential to provide energy to the cells of the body. But when the production of the hormone ‘Insulin’, which delivers this glucose to the cells, decreases, or the body does not respond properly to insulin, the sugar level in the blood rises. The main reasons leading to this are:

Unhealthy diet and starch: Excessive consumption of rice, kappa, flour dishes, bakery sweets, and sweet drinks that are rich in carbohydrates (starch) is the main reason for sugar to increase. These increase the blood glucose level quickly.

Lack of exercise and a sedentary lifestyle: When physical activity decreases, glucose in the body is not burned properly. This leads to insulin resistance. Those who do not exercise daily are at a high risk of developing diabetes.

Obesity and belly fat: Weight gain, especially around the belly, interferes with the action of the insulin hormone. This doubles the risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes.

Severe mental stress and lack of sleep: When you experience severe stress, hormones like ‘Cortisol’ and ‘Adrenaline’ are produced in the body. These hormones interfere with the action of insulin and can quickly increase blood sugar levels.

Genetics: If parents or siblings in the family have diabetes, the next generation is also more likely to get it. Due to such genetic reasons, many people develop diabetes at a young age.
