Are you suffering from knee pain and joint pain? 5 reasons behind the decrease in bone strength

Bones are the building blocks of our body. Although bones have good density (Bone Mass) during youth, bone strength naturally starts to decrease after the age of 30. Here are the main reasons behind knee pain, back pain, and osteoporosis (a condition in which bones break down) that many people suffer from:

Calcium Deficiency: Calcium is the most essential mineral for building bones and teeth. Calcium is also needed in our blood to maintain a healthy heart beat. When the body does not get enough calcium through food, the body starts taking calcium stored in the bones. This can cause bones to weaken quickly.

Vitamin D3 Deficiency: No matter how much calcium-rich foods we eat, the body needs vitamin D to absorb it. Vitamin D levels decrease in people who spend their time in AC rooms without exposure to sunlight and in those who do not exercise. This can lead to the loss of calcium in the food they eat.

Hormonal Changes: Hormones are the main reason for the decrease in bone strength in women. After menopause, the production of estrogen in women’s bodies decreases significantly. The decrease in estrogen doubles the wear and tear of bones. In men, the decrease in testosterone as they age also affects bones.

Sedentary Lifestyle: Just like muscles, bones also get stronger with exercise. In those who do not do much physical activity, the amount of salts in the bones decreases. In those who do not do strength training and walking, the risk of bone loss is higher.

Excessive consumption of caffeine and carbonated drinks: Soft drinks available in the market, excessive consumption of tea and coffee are harmful to bone health. The ‘phosphoric acid’ in soft drinks can cause excessive excretion of calcium from the body through urine.
